BIO
Amber Rose Jones is a writer-director, international photographer, and self-proclaimed aspiring adult based in Los Angeles. Born in New Jersey and raised in a sleepy college town near Rutgers, Amber grew up at the crossroads of creativity and introspection: her mother, a Woodstock-era fashion designer turned psychotherapist; her father, a founding member of Parliament-Funkadelic. With that kind of lineage, it’s no wonder her work explores the intersection of identity crisis, existential dread, and… a secret third thing.
AMBER ROSE JONES.

Amber earned an MFA in Film & Television Production from USC’s School of Cinematic Arts, where she was awarded the prestigious George Lucas Scholarship. Her work explores the quiet melancholia of suburbia, the complexities of girlhood, and the lasting imprint of trauma. She is drawn to narratives about the dark nature of good people in ordinary settings.
She’s deeply inspired by films like American Beauty and Donnie Darko, and worships at the altar of Sofia Coppola, whose The Virgin Suicides transformed familial dysfunction into something beautiful; as well as Amy Heckerling, whose Clueless didn’t just define a generation, it reminded us that girlhood can be both fashionable and still like, really really smart.
Amber has written and directed six short films, including Blue Orchid (Best Dramatic Student Short, LAIFFA), Brunch (Awards of Merit for Direction, Ensemble Cast, and Webisode at The IndieFEST), Girl on Fire (Official Selection, American Horror Film Festival), and Claire (Official Selection, Deep in the Heart Film Festival). Her industry experience spans from behind the camera as a cinematographer, to documentary development on Helter Skelter for EPIX, to production roles on Married at First Sight, and most recently, supporting Physical Production at Paramount.
A college professor once described her as “sexy, smart, and funny,” and honestly? He nailed it.
